The Playful Space is that spot in your heart that craves connection, creativity, and joy. The Playful Space was born as a personal creative outlet for the founder, Emily, when she was struggling with postpartum depression with her first child. She found it difficult to tap into her past creative self. Through therapy and a personal retreat in 2019 with Jessi Reinhart of InHer Compass, Emily decided to commit to self-care, a daily gratitude practice, and 5-10 minutes of creativity a day. What started as a private Instagram account to express creativity and bolster her commitment to herself during the darkest time of her life has bloomed into a business of connecting and sharing the gift of play and creativity with others. Hands on exploration, process art, and open ended play is at the heart of The Playful Space. The Cornerstones of The Playful Space: Play and Creativity
The benefits of play are far-reaching, but we often give up play as adults for more serious pursuits such as our careers, our relationships, and our families. Play allows us to express creativity and helps nurture critical thinking, personality development, and adaptive pathways for us in childhood. But what if we could tap into play to enhance our life experiences, our professions, our relationships, and our family lives as adults as well?
Play for adults is critical in our stressful, chaotic lives. Play has been shown to release endorphins, improve brain functionality, and stimulate creativity. It can even help keep us young and feeling energetic. Studies show that play improves memory, stimulates the growth of the cerebral cortex, and helps prevent anxiety and depression..
Play is healthy and FUN!
The Oxford English Dictionary defines play: to wield lightly and freely; to keep in motion.
Who wouldn’t like to experience more moments of lightness and freedom in our days?
So let’s start now, come PLAY with me!
